I was invited to attend a fashion show on Saturday 3rd March 2018 at Kinza Restaurant, Dubai.
Foluke is the designer behind the show bringing her African Designs to Dubai. Foluke showcased 8 collections, which ranged from casual wear, office wear and evening attire.
Her collection is exclusively is from Attara fabric designs and prints.
Foluke told me she’s always loved fashion since a young age and its truly her passion, even her though her day time job is an accountant and mother.
Foluke was born in Zurich, Switzerland. educated in Nigeria, moved to London after getting married and for the past severn years she and her family have been living in Abu Dhabi.
In 2012 she discovered no-one made African clothes in Abu Dhabi and decided to design her own. She found an Indian tailor who stitched her a few outfits. She soon became popular with her friends and started designing for them also using the traditional African material.
Foluke had her first fashion show last year Nov 2017 in Abu Dhabi and gained a huge response. Her second show seemed to have been just as popular. i enjoyed the high energy today, traditional dancing and music which put everyone in a great mood. There was also a turban wrapping contest and best ‘Attara dressed winner.
Here are some pictures from the event: –
I really love supporting new and up and coming designers and especially championing my fellow women designers. Well done to Fuluke and her ‘Prestige Team’ for a great fashion show. I would now would like to see, a Black Fashion Week in Dubai in the future In Shaa Allah!
Love & Duaa
